Dear Family and Friends:
Hallo! Hello! ¡Saludos!
I apologize for not having been in touch with all of you for a while. Our family has been very busy with lots of activities (mainly the kids.)
This week we'd like to welcome August Lewis Riefkohl, Jr. (Arizona) and Jorge L. Riefkohl Muñoz (Puerto Rico) to the Ring. They both made an entry in our Guestbook section. Please visit www.riefkohl.com to read what they had to tell us.
Also new to our website is a section on Germany today by Tobi Cohrs: My View of Germany. In this personal account of Germany--the land of our ancestors--you will find a little bit of everything: geography, weather, politics, education, etc. Please visit this section and let Tobi know what you think. He can add any additional information you would want to know--just write him an email.
An update on genealogical research:
Both Tobi and Ernesto continue to dig deep into our past. It seems like every week a new window opens up. As you know, they have started looking into the genealogy of the von Schnehen family. There are two Riefkohls who married into this family. Tobi has already made contact with this family and they have provided very valuable information regarding the Riefkohl-von Schnehen connection. We are very optimistic that Tobi will be able to locate where Georg Daniel Riefkohl is buried.
In addition, Ernesto and Tobi are working with other genealogists in Europe to explore various different spellings of the Riefkohl name. It is almost certain that our surname has many variants (something very common not only in German but in all languages). As they begin to follow the
many leads that they have gotten, we are certain that the Riefkohl world will expand enormously. We may find relatives in Holland, Denmark, Poland and many other European countries. We will keep you posted on these findings.
Lastly, if you have any questions or would like to share information about your family, please send us an email. You can email Ernesto, Tobi or me and one of us will get back with you.
Have a great week!
Raúl
