Back Newsletter Vol.1, No.5 Next

2000/09/21

Dear Family and Friends:

Hallo! Hello! ”Saludos!

This week's newsletter is early and short. We are in the middle of moving to our house. Fortunately the house is only a few blocks from the apartment where we have been since we moved back to Phoenix in late May. Here are the particulars:
717 E. Harmont Drive
Phoenix, AZ 85020
(602) 331-0678

If you are planning a visit to the Valley of the Sun, please stop by!

Riefkohl Trivia: The answer to last week's trivia question is Bertha Riefkohl (1855-1918), daughter of Karl August, who migrated to New Braunfels, Texas in 1852. The Riefkohls were among the first German families to populate this area. Even today, the German heritage is still very visible.
This week's mystery Riefkohl is the first Puerto Rican to have ever graduated from the USA Naval Academy. This Riefkohl eventually became a Rear Admiral in the USA Navy and fought one of the fiercest battles in the Pacific during World War II, his ship having been sunk by the Japanese during the Battle of Savo Island (9 August 1942).

If you haven't visited Ernesto's website recently, you MUST see it. He's added lots of new information and pictures. Great job, Ernesto, and thank you very much for countless hours of work and dedication to bringing all of us together. The URL is:
http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/r/i/e/Ernesto-Riefkohl/index.html

We are in the process of finalizing the acquisition of a domain: www.riefkohl.com. Eventually, Der Ring von Riefkohl will be moved to that site and we will simply send you and email with a link to the most recent newsletter. We will also have a Guestbook for all of you to post your messages and comments, and a photo gallery. Lots of neat stuff coming your way!

Have a great week!
